InTeLLeCT stands for Integrated Teaching and Life-long Learning Centre @ Taylor’s. The aim of the center is to lead capacity building initiatives that would ensure Taylor’s commitment to a total learning experience for all.

In conjunction with the Official Launch of the InTeLLeCT Centre (in tandem with Taylor’s National Teaching and Learning Conference) on 9^th October, InTeLLeCT would like to invite all students and staff to design a new InTeLLeCT logo to reflect their new identity & image.

As a REWARD, a RM500 cash prize will be given away to the winning design.

Closing Date: 15 Sept.

IT’s Green Photography Contest

For those who have missed the trip to FRIM on 14th August 2010, you can still join the photography contest. Just visit FRIM on your own, take the photos there and submit the photos before the closing date for submissions.

IT’s Green @ FRIM

FYE SOCIT will be organizing a photography competition with the theme “Green Computing” in August 2010. The competition is open to all students of School of Computing and Information Technology, Taylor’s University College.

We will be bringing the students to Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong for the photo-shooting on Saturday 14 August 2010. The registration fees of RM20 is inclusive of snacks, transportation and giveaways.

All proceeds from this competition will be channeled to the Bario 1Taylor’s Community Project. To have a rough idea on where is Bario and what is the place about, click here.

FYE Brings SOCIT First Year Students to UM Expo

University of Malaya (UM) organized a three-day Creativity and Innovation Expo 2010 at Dewan Tunku Canselor (DTC), UM from 1st to 3rd April with the theme “Green Technology”. The Expo aimed to foster a culture of innovation and creativity among the graduates, researchers, lecturers and the people. This Expo was also in line with the government’s initiative to declare the year 2010 as the Year of Innovation (Malaysia Innovation 2010).

Coincidentally, the Expo is also in line with the Project-Based Learning theme for the FIC March 2010 intake students, i.e. Green Technology. Therefore, the First Year Experience committee decided to charter a bus to bring some of the first year students. The group of 2 lecturers and around 40 students departed from Leisure Commerce Square at around 9.30 am on 2nd April 2010. The students spent around 2 hours visiting the various booths which participated in the Expo, voted for the Best Green Photography and one of them was brave enough to try out the Leech Therapy which was made available there!

Overall, it was an enriching experience for both the students and lecturers who went for this Expo. Some of the students already had an idea for their Green Technology project!

We’re moving!

The School of Computing will be shifting to Lakeside Campus next week. The move will start on 14th April 2010, but classes will only start there on 26th April 2010. As such, there will be a briefing for all SOCIT lecturers and students on the move this Wednesday. The details are as follows:
