“First of all, being a computing student in Taylor’s College rewards me with immense opportunities to learn and excel not only academically, but in terms of other great exposures as well. One main area that I would like to emphasize on is that the college has been very supportive towards students wanting to participate in competitions and expos. For example, I attended and participated in the Malaysia Technology Expo 2009 that was held in PWTC lately and being there itself was an amazing experience for me. This clearly shows that Taylor’s College is not only about providing educational services to students but they also emphasize greatly on giving students as much exposure and experience in the real world as possible. All in all, I am really glad to be part of Taylor’s.” from Ivan She (RMIT-CS, Year 3 student)

Alan Cheng (RMIT-IT, Year 3 student)
“Since this would be my final year of my studies, I can proudly say that having gone through these few years in Taylor’s College, it did give me a very strong foundation in terms of technical knowledge and as well as my personal grooming. Not only the course structure was well-written and organized, but there were other extra workshops that were organized for us. Beside that, the college has always been trying to seek and provide various types of certifications for students to pursue. One example is the SAP Best Practices Certification that was recently offered. It is a very precious certification in today’s world and we get to do it at a much lower price! Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to the college for giving me such great opportunities in establishing myself.” Alan Cheng (RMIT-IT, Year 3 student)

Punitha (RMIT-CS, Year 3 student)
“When I first entered Taylor’s for my 3 years of studies in Computer Science I had the least knowledge on computers. My understanding on computer hardware and software enhanced rapidly as my lecturers were very helpful and knowledgeable. The course structure is easy to be adapted even by someone with zero knowledge about computers as it covers from top to toe about computer science. Assignments have helped me gain more knowledge about the subjects and I became better in time management too! My analytical skill has improved since we are taught to think and come out with solution ourselves rather than being spoon fed.” from Punitha (RMIT-CS, Year 3 student)

Harideva (RMIT-CS, Year 3 student)
“Code, codes and coding. These were the only three words running in my mind when I made the 1st step into TCPJ. Making a new friend on a daily basis was one of the activities I actively anticipated back in 2005. 1st year down the road, had no idea what to expect, walked in with an empty mind and without prepared skills to face anything that comes forward. Things were going pretty smoothly, with own colonized group of buddies, designated hang out places, averagely weight workload, last minute work, only studied if required. 2nd year, work and stress pumped in. You know roughly what is coming your way, but you ain’t have the proper tools to deal with them yet. Began working like a non-stop steam powered train, had sleepless nights trying to meet assignment datelines even with proper time planning, balancing stress levels with peer pressure, huge teamwork and team management as group assignments became a favourite in the course assessments, lecturer’s staff room door turns to be my 2nd room door to be knocked. Colonized group of friends started to de-colonize, issues among friends arise, challenges to maintain both friendship and grades, became more attached with assignment team-mates now, many days and nights spent staying over in teammates’ houses to finish up work that were due. 3rd year, with the course structure at the back of my head, knowing what is coming and having the right gear with me, all I required was solid time and reliable mates to work with along the way. Using up experience and work knowledge gained from Year 1 & 2, with a lot of self learning and self troubleshooting on a much higher level, year 3 went by. Applying own knowledge, solving complex issues, producing research document, begin to have a professional sense growing inside, complains turn into efforts looking for solutions, tend to have more conversations with lecturers about what to do next. Towards the end, realized that its not just about code, codes and coding. RMIT 3+0 Bsc. Comp Sc. is about acquiring skills and knowledge, processing them, analyzing what they are meant for and how to utilize them, converting them onto own work on the keyboards and papers, assessing error’s made end of every submitted work, producing final state of the art work at the end of the term with the existence of extreme peer pressure, limited time frame, extensive work load and a little bit of fun, which in the end produces an excellent version of you tomorrow. If you can handle RMIT 3+0 in 3 years here, you will lead where ever you go.” From Harideva (RMIT-CS, Year 3 student)

Rick Hoang (RMIT-IT, Graduated on Feb 09)
“RMIT programme is not just providing you with lecture notes and exercises, but it also provides the skills, knowledge and prepares you for what will come in the future. It is stressful but at the same time, fun as well.” from Rick Hoang (RMIT-IT, Graduated on Feb 09)
